Why is sleeping late bad for your health?

In order to answer this properly, I would need to know the circumstances of this late sleep.
Does this mean you are going to bed late, or does this mean you are sleeping past the time you would like to get up?
The ideal time to sleep is between 11 pm and 3 pm. If you sleep between these times, you get more REM sleep which is better for your health. If you sleep any time after that, you will get less REM sleep, so in that way, going to sleep later is bad for your health.
If you are talking in terms of sleeping past a certain time, that could be a problem too. Your body needs to go through 5 stages of sleep to be fully refreshed, and if you sleep for longer, you’re body may enter a new phase of sleep which will throw off your sleep pattern and may make you disoriented throughout the day.
If you are sleeping too much in general, you may have a sleep disorder called hypersomnia which can be very dangerous if it goes untreated.
The best thing for you to do is to find a sleep schedule and stick to it. Try and sleep eight hours every night, and start winding down about 90 minutes before. If you’re going on the computer or using your iPhone before bed, the blue light can also throw off your sleep. You should always wear blue light blocking glasses 1–2 hours before bedtime to keep blue light away.
