Some of the common responses were:
- Acai Berries
- Citrus fruits
These are all fantastic responses, but only ONE of them is correct. Can you guess what one?
The whole day, I kept thinking, “I’m sure some researcher somewhere was curious about this and broke it down.”
Sure enough, over at William Paterson University, they produced a list of 41 fruits and vegetables. They are ranked by 17 nutrients, such as fiber, potassium, protein, B12, and several other nutrients.
The highest-ranked fruit, according to research..*Drum roll*
Is the Red Pepper!
If you’re anything like me, you’re still reeling over the fact that the red pepper is even a fruit, much less the healthiest.
It scored 41% on the nutrient density score and is outranked by plenty of vegetables. This is great news, I don’t mind eating red peppers. In fact, here’s one of my favorite red pepper dishes. Try it tonight.
What are the other most healthy fruits?
- Pumpkin at 32%
- Tomato at 20%
- Lemons at 18%
- Strawberries at 17%
- Oranges at 12%
- Blackberries at 11%
I hope this cleared some things up for you, it was one of the only accurate studies I could find after a few hours of searching.
I hope this helped you in finding the most healthy fruits, or it might have cleared up some misconceptions you had. Thanks for reading!
Next time in most healthy foods…Watercress! Scoring 100% on the nutrient density test, it just might be the most healthy vegetable!
